Hello WWDers β itβs been quite a while, but I have some big news: Hyperquery (and Win With Data) is joining forces with Deepnote! Joseph and I started both Hyperquery and this newsletter a few years ago with a clear mission in mind: to improve the effectiveness of data teams. We had seen firsthand how underleveraged data teams could be within modern organizations, and we felt that there were two necessary conditions required to bridge the gap:
Better processes.
Tooling that made it easier to implement those processes.
We wanted to break the cycle of endless dashboard-building, SQL dumpster-diving, and impact-blind data munging efforts. And so, we began to evangelize this philosophy through this newsletter, and we built Hyperquery with this philosophy at its core. We agonized for long hours over every minute detail of the product experience β we felt it was deeply important to reduce the cognitive load of consumption, lower the barrier to entry for interaction, and build a product that was just as accessible as it was powerful. And we feel fortunate to have met thousands of you who feel the same.
That said, over the years, weβve come to find that this is vision is one that is uniquely shared by one of our fiercest competitors β Deepnote. And, at some point, we started to realize that it made little sense to continue to develop in parallel when our visions were so deeply aligned. So weβve decided to join forces, with the goal of realizing this vision more expediently.
A final note to you readers: Iβm deeply thankful for the community and home that youβve given to me and Joseph over the past few years. Itβs one thing to start a company and build something useful, but itβs a whole other thing to meet intelligent, thoughtful people who share your vision. So thank you. Weβre confident that the folks at Deepnote will carry this mantle well β youβll be in good hands.
Congratulations to you and Hyperquery! π
