It doesn't, really - we're just looking at it the wrong way.

As an outsider take, there's no reason M can't handle all of this, better than SQL-first solutions. Power Query on M is pretty bad ass; M just needs more TLC.
Hm I have not checked out M- I'll have to take a look.
But that would make sense. I suppose we're only in this mess because SQL is still the standard...
